  • The butsuden of Taiheiji nunnery is moved to the site of Engakuji in Kamakura, and becomes the shariden of that temple.
  • Ômura Sumitada is baptized, becoming the first daimyô to convert to Christianity.
  • Seven wakô raiding parties, numbering over 1400 men in total, including 60 or so fishermen and the like and 200-300 Chinese, aboard 137 ships, attack Pinghai, near Fuzhou.
  • Chinese military forces expel wakô from Fujian.
