- 1909/2 Yanagita Kunio collects stories from Sasaki Kizen which will later form his Tales of Tôno, published 1910.

- The government runs out of land to give to Ainu, promised 5 chô per household by the 1899 Former Natives Protection Law.
- The Akasaka Detached Palace is completed.
