Prince Bolo was a Manchu prince and general, the third son of Abatai, and grandson of Nurhachi.

He conquered Fuzhou in 1646, defeating the Southern Ming pretender the Prince of Tang. A group of Ryukyuan envoys led by Mô Taikyû who had just arrived from Ryûkyû to give their formal congratulations to the Prince on acceding to the throne as emperor, now turned around and expressed their willingness to submit to Qing authority; they were taken to Beijing to formally submit to the Shunzhi Emperor.
