• Keiô 2/12/5 (10 Jan) Tokugawa Yoshinobu becomes the 15th Tokugawa Shogun.
• 1867/1/9 Emperor Meiji succeeds to the throne.
• 1867/2/27 1867 Paris World's Fair (Exposition Universelle) opens. Satsuma han and the Tokugawa shogunate display as separate delegations.
