En-hime was the daughter of Honda Suketoshi (lord of Iiyama han) and wife to Sakai Tadashige (lord of Himeji han). She lived in the eastern palace within Himeji castle beginning in 1862.

Following her death in 1867, she was buried at Keifuku-ji, along with a number of the other women of the Sakai clan.
