- 1614/6 Christian riot in Kyoto
- 1614/8 (Sept) The Clove, captained by John Saris, arrives at Plymouth, on the return from Japan.
- 1614/11/15 The Osaka Winter Campaign begins.
- 1614/11/20 (Dec 20) John Saris sells lacquerware he acquired in Japan; this is the first art auction in British history.
- 1614/12/23 Christianity bans issued. Expulsion of missionaries. Christian church in Nagasaki closed.

- William Adams calls at Naha on his way to Siam, along with Richard Wickham. In violation of the stipulations of the shuinsen system, the Ryukyuan port refuses to refit the ship or to supply it; the English factor, Richard Cocks, later complains to Shimazu Iehisa.
- The construction of Edo Castle is largely completed.
- Richard Cocks petitions the shogunate for permission for the British East India Company to trade with Ryûkyû.
- Prince Sashiki Chôshô journeys to Satsuma, where he is to be a political hostage.
