The Battle of Fujigawa was an early battle of the Gempei War, taking place late in the 10th month of 1180. It represents an early defeat for the Taira clan, and specifically, a force led by Taira no Koremori, grandson to Taira no Kiyomori.

Minamoto no Yoritomo formally declared war on the Taira in the 8th month of 1180 and began raising forces in the Kantô region. The following month, he formally joined forced with Kiso no Yoshinaka. In response to this, Kiyomori dispatched his grandson Koremori to travel east to fight the Minamoto clan. Koremori was defeated and turned back, however, at a location along the Fuji River in Suruga province (today, Shizuoka prefecture), just west of Mt. Fuji.
