LordAmeth

LordAmeth (紫水晶殿) is a bit obsessed with Japan, and increasingly with the wider region of East/SE Asia. He finds interest in just about every period or aspect of Japanese history, from the earliest ancient clan conflicts, through the Heian period and the Genpei Wars, the complexities of clan histories and regional histories of the Sengoku period, and into the vivid cultural, political, and economic history of the Edo period, the cultural changes of the Meiji period, and the cultural issues facing Japan today. There is a special place in his heart for Okinawa, though he has yet to visit there.
He studied at Jouchi Daigaku in Tokyo for one term back in '03, and completed his MA at the School of Oriental & African Studies (U of London), writing on 17th century relations between the shogunate and Southeast Asian authorities. He now lives in Yokohama and devotes the vast majority of his waking hours to improving his Japanese language skills.
He's been really active on Wikipedia for several years, and isn't sure how that will continue in the future as he gets more and more involved here. Please do feel free to check out his user page over there.
He has been active on Samurai Archives since June 2007, and is an editor for the Samurai-Archives Journal of Japanese History.
Interests and Specialties
As the userboxes do not tell all, I am particularly interested in and/or knowledgeable about:
- History of Okinawa
- Satsuma han
- Kabuki, Noh, Bunraku
- Ukiyo-e and wider Edo period art
- Gempei War
- Regional histories of individual clans or domains.
Projects
Ameth is going to work on creating articles for the above major topics he works on, and will then attempt to convince himself to work from various lists of requested articles, stubs, etc. already posted on S-A rather than going off in his own direction.
Though there are a great many central and major topics not covered, he also feels that there are subjects like those relating to the Kingdom of Ryukyu which will never get covered if he doesn't do it, so please do not mind him if he does after all go off on some random direction.
In addition, he is still somewhat on the fence about taking his Wikipedia contributions directly over here, just copying and pasting or whatever. Still, he reserves the right (I hope it's cool with you all), if something's not covered on Wikipedia, to write a new article and post it on both Wikis.
Articles to Create
- Note to self: port lineage pages of Ichikawa Danjuro, Sakata Tojuro and others from Wikipedia, along with articles on individual actors, and on the Actors' Analects.
A list of articles he has contributed to extensively on Samurai Archives can be found here.
