A taxidermied Ryûkyû akashôbin on display at the Yama to Mizu Seikatsu Hakubutsukan in Higashi village, northern Okinawa Island
  • Other Names: Ruddy kingfisher, Halcyon coromanda bangsi
  • Japanese: 琉球赤翡翠 (Ryûkyû shôbin)

The Ryûkyû akashôbin, sometimes called the ruddy kingfisher in English, is a distinctive bird native to the Ryukyu Islands. It can be found on islands throughout the archipelago, including the Amami Islands, Tokara Islands, Okinawa Islands, Miyako Islands, Yaeyama Islands, and the Daitô Islands.

The akashôbin features in a number of paintings by Amami Ôshima-based Nihonga painter Tanaka Isson.
