Ôyama Tsunayoshi was the first governor of Kagoshima prefecture.
He was elected governor of Kagoshima in 1874, but was stripped of his position in 1877 after it was discovered he was supplying funds and ammunition to Saigô Takamori's anti-government rebels. Ôyama was arrested in Kobe, and was executed on 30 September 1877. He is buried in the Nanshû Cemetery in Kagoshima.
