- 1767/7 Tanuma Okitsugu becomes Tairô.
- 1767/7 A group of castaways from Mito han stranded in Vietnam since 1765/11 return to Japan, arriving in Nagasaki on a Vietnamese junk.
- 1767/8 Meiwa Incident - Pro-Imperialist rebels involved in the 1758 Hôreki Incident plot to seize Edo. They are arrested, two being executed, one more exiled.
