- An archery record is set at the Sanjûsangendô, shooting 13,053 arrows down the length of the building, of which 8,133 were successfully shot the full length of the building without touching it. This record was never bested before or afterwards and remains the standing record today.
- Takemoto Gidayû's first work to be published, the Chihiroshû, is published.
