*1838/3/10 The Nishi-no-maru residence of former shogun [[Tokugawa Ienari]] and of the shogunal heir [[Tokugawa Iesada]], within [[Edo castle]], burns down. Reconstruction efforts on the Naka-oku and [[Ooku|Ô-oku]] are given precedence over the reconstruction of the Omote areas. [[Kano Seisenin|Kanô Seisen'in]] is placed in charge of overseeing the replacement of the ''[[fusuma]]'' and other interior paintings.
