Sosei Hôshi was a 9th-10th century Buddhist priest and ''[[waka]]'' poet known as one of the "36 Poetry Immortals" (''[[Sanjurokkasen|Sanjûrokkasen]]''). His father [[Henjo|Henjô]] is also known as a Buddhist priest and is counted among both the "Six Poetry Immortals" (''[[Rokkasen]]'') and the ''Sanjûrokkasen''.
Originally affiliated with [[Unrin-in]] (a temple founded by his father), he later moved to Sekijô-ji (Ryôin-in).
