Kurozuka kofun

• Japanese: 黒塚古墳 (Kurozuka kofun)

Kurozuka kofun is a 4th century kofun tomb-mound in Nara prefecture known for the finds there of a set of 33 bronze mirrors.

Thirty-two bronze mirrors were found surrounding the coffin buried inside the tomb-mound, all of them arranged so that the reflective (mirror) side was facing the body. An additional mirror, smaller and older than the rest and made in China, was found near the head of the body and is believed to have been of particular ritual significance.
