Emperor Saga

Jump to navigationJump to searchEmperor Saga was the third Emperor to rule from Heian-kyô (Kyoto), and the second to be posthumously named after the site of his mausoleum.
He was a half-brother of Emperor Heizei, and succeeded to the throne in 809 upon Heizei's abdication.
