Shô Jun was the third son of King Shô Kô of the Ryukyu Kingdom. He held the title of Prince Ôzato, and succeeded Urasoe Chôki as Sessei in 1852/4.

Prince Ie Chôchoku (Shô Ken) was his younger brother by the same mother; they had a number of half-siblings by different mothers.[1]
