Ancient Japanese province on Honshu bordering the Inland Sea. At the time of the Taika Reform (645) it was divided into three provinces, Bizen province, Bitchû province, and Bingo province, i.e., front, middle, and back Bi. In 713 Bizen was further divided into Bizen province and Mimasaka province.
