Sakashita-juku in Ise province, located in what is today the city of Kameyama, in Mie prefecture, was the 48th station of the Tôkaidô highway.

Engelbert Kaempfer wrote that in the 1690s, the town was quite small, containing only about one hundred homes.[1]
