  • Okinawan: 名護城 (Nan gusuku, Nan gushiku)

Nan gusuku was a gusuku fortress located at the foot of Mt. Nago (Nago-dake) in what is now Nago City, in northern Okinawa Island. An earthworks fortress without stone walls, it stood and operated in some form, often as the home of the regional lord, Nago aji, from roughly 1100 CE to around 1850.

The grounds of the castle were named a public park in 1963, and remain today a 71.1 hectare prefectural public park. The park is particularly known for its cherry blossoms.
