  • Japanese: 恵光院 (Ekou-in)

Ekôin is a small Buddhist temple in Fukuoka, adjacent to Hakozaki Shrine. The temple houses the Tôrôdô (Basket-Lantern Hall), formerly located within the precincts of the shrine, where Toyotomi Hideyoshi enjoyed tea with Sen no Rikyû, Kamiya Sotan, and Shimai Soshitsu, among others, during his campaign to conquer Kyushu. The Tôrôdô was moved from the shrine grounds onto the grounds of Ekô-in during the Meiji period, when the government was seeking to separate Shinto from Buddhism.
