Asakusa Shrine is a Shinto shrine on the grounds of the Buddhist temple Sensô-ji in the Asakusa neighborhood of Tokyo. It enshrines the spirits of Hinokuma no Hamanari and Takenari, the two figures who are said to have discovered a golden statue of Kannon in 628, and of Haji no Matsuchi, who made the statue the central object of worship at Sensô-ji, the temple established for that purpose.
The current main shrine building dates to 1649, when it was rebuilt under Tokugawa Iemitsu.
