- 1559/8 Jesuit priest Gaspar Vilela journeys to Kyoto.
- 1559/8 Ôtomo Sôrin retakes Moji castle for the Môri clan.
Other Events
- Uesugi Kenshin journeys to Kyoto, paying tribute to Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiteru, receiving an audience with the Imperial Court, and visiting Mt. Hiei among other sites.
- Imagawa Yoshimoto seizes Otaka castle from the Oda clan, which is then besieged by Oda Nobunaga. Matsudaira Motoyasu defeats the siege, providing provisions to the blockaded defenders.
