  • Japanese: 薬師寺 (Yakushi-ji)

Yakushi-ji is a Buddhist temple in Nara prefecture.

It was originally commissioned by Emperor Temmu in 680 as part of an effort to pray for the health of his empress consort, who was then struggling with illness. She completed the construction after taking the throne herself, as Empress Jitô.

The complex covers an area of nine chô. The Eastern Pagoda is original, and dates to the late 7th century. Other buildings on-site date to later reconstructions.

Yakushi-ji was one of ten temples to receive Hyakumantô darani from the imperial court.
