Hosokawa Shigekata was the 8th Edo period head of the Hosokawa clan, and lord of Kumamoto han.
A son of Hosokawa Nobunori, he succeeded his elder brother Hosokawa Munetaka as head of the family, and lord of the domain, after Munetaka died suddenly.
He is known for his reforms of domain administration.
A text titled Gindai iji (銀台遺事) collects records of his reign.
