Kôdai-in was the chief wife of Shogun Tokugawa Ienari.

She was the daughter of Shimazu Shigehide, lord of Satsuma han. In 1776, at the age of 4, she was engaged to Matsudaira Toyochiyo of the Hitotsubashi family, who would later become Tokugawa Ienari; they were married in 1789. She gave birth to her first child, Atsunosuke, in 1797, but he died when he was only age 4.

In 1842, she was promoted to Junior First Rank (従一位). She died two years later at age 72.
