- 1773/int.3 Peasant revolt in Hida Province (part of the Ôhara Rebellion).
- 1773/4 Shares (stocks) in the operation of the higaki kaisen, cargo vessels transporting goods between Edo and Osaka, are officially recognized by the shogunate, and begin to be traded.
- Shogunate establishes a guild for dealers in coal, charcoal, and firewood, and bans those outside the guild from engaging in such business.
