I'm kind of amazed that there are so many basic topics that are not covered extensively. I do *not* mean that as a criticism, it's just surprising. I am more than happy to get started on some of these "big scope" articles, and hope that others will join in. It's actually kind of nice, for though there are niches on Wikipedia that are almost entirely untouched (the vast majority of work on ukiyoe, kabuki, and certain other Japanese topics are, I think, almost entirely done by me), I never got to do work on the real big topics. Here goes.

LordAmeth (紫水晶殿) is a bit obsessed with Japan, and increasingly with the wider region of East/SE Asia. He finds interest in just about every period or aspect of Japanese history, from the earliest ancient clan conflicts, through the Heian period and the Genpei Wars, the complexities of clan histories and regional histories of the Sengoku period, and into the vivid cultural, political, and economic history of the Edo period, the cultural changes of the Meiji period, and the cultural issues facing Japan today. There is a special place in his heart for Okinawa, though he has yet to visit there.

He studied at Jouchi Daigaku in Tokyo for one term back in '03, and is looking forward to moving to Yokohama at the end of the summer. He's finishing his MA dissertation at the School of Oriental & African Studies (U of London), writing on 17th century relations between the shogunate and Southeast Asian authorities.

He's been really active on Wikipedia for several years, and isn't sure how that will continue in the future as he gets more and more involved here. Please do feel free to check out his user page over there.

He has been active on Samurai Archives since June 2007, and is an editor for the Samurai-Archives Journal of Japanese History.
