- 1479/5/27 Ashina Moritaka of Aizu attacks Shibukawa Yoshimoto at Takada castle.
Other Events of 1479
- Asakura Toshikage defeats the Shiba family and assumes control of Echizen, marking him in some scholar's eyes as the first 'Sengoku daimyo', however other scholars lean towards Hôjô Sôun as the first of the Sengoku Daimyo.
- A number of Koreans who had been shipwrecked on Yonaguni Island two years earlier, including Kim Pi-i, author of the Choson Songjong shillok, arrive on Okinawa, and return the same year to Korea alongside a Ryukyuan mission headed by a Hakata merchant named Shinshirô.
- Rennyo founds the Yamashina Mido.
