- 1559/6-8 Siege of Iwakura by Oda Nobunaga; ends in the surrender of the castle and its subsequent destruction.
- 1559/8 Jesuit priest Gaspar Vilela journeys to Kyoto.
- 1559/8 Ôtomo Sôrin retakes Moji castle for the Môri clan.

- The Hôjô compile a register of roughly 500 of their retainers, known as the Odawara-shû shoryô yakuchô.
- Imagawa Yoshimoto seizes Otaka castle from the Oda clan, which is then besieged by Oda Nobunaga. Matsudaira Motoyasu defeats the siege, providing provisions to the blockaded defenders.
- Jinbo Nagamoto attacks the Shiina clan at Matsukura castle.
- Kanrei Hosokawa Harumoto is captured by Miyoshi Chôkei, and is forced to become a monk, retiring to Settsu province.
