Tokugawa Mochinaga was the 15th lord of Owari han. Originally the lord of Takasu han, he was assigned by the shogunate to become lord of Owari (Nagoya) in 1858 when Tokugawa Yoshikumi was forced into retirement in the Ansei Purge.

He then later that same year was granted the honor of the use of a character from the name of Shogun Tokugawa Iemochi, and changed his name from Matsudaira Yoshichika to Tokugawa Mochinaga. Mochinaga was succeeded as lord of Takasu by his illegitimate child Matsudaira Yoshimasa (Hidemaro), who then later took on the name Tokugawa Yoshinori.
