Kaieda Nobuyoshi was a [[Satsuma han]] retainer who is believed to have been one of the chief attackers in the [[1862]] [[Namamugi Incident]] (in which Satsuma retainers attacked several Brits who were blocking the road). When the British Royal Navy [[Bombardment of Kagoshima|attacked Kagoshima]] the following year as retribution, Kaieda, along with Satsuma retainer [[Narahara Kizaemon]] attempted unsuccessfully to seize control of one of the British vessels.
