The Later Jin Dynasty was a short-lived dynasty during China's [[Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms]] period. Ruled by [[Shi Jingtang]]<!--石敬瑭--> from 936 until his death in [[942]], and then by his nephew [[Shi Chonggui]] until [[947]], the Later Jin is primarily known for having surrendered sixteen strategically valuable prefectures to the [[Khitan]] [[Liao dynasty]], contributing indirectly to the rise of the [[Jurchen]] [[Jin dynasty]] which conquered the [[Han Chinese]] [[Northern Song dynasty]] several centuries later.
