Hatoyama Kazuo was a [[Meiji period]] member of the [[National Diet|House of Representatives]] (''Shûgiin'') and Speaker of the House.
He is considered the patriarch of the Hatoyama "dynasty" of modern politicians. His son [[Hatoyama Ichiro|Hatoyama Ichirô]], grandson [[Hatoyama Iichiro|Hatoyama Iichirô]], and great-grandsons [[Hatoyama Kunio]] and [[Hatoyama Yukio]] all served as cabinet ministers or [[prime minister]]s.
