Nan gusuku was a [[gusuku]] fortress located in what is now [[Nago]] City, in northern [[Okinawa Island]]. An earthworks fortress without stone walls, it stood and operated in some form from roughly 1100 CE to around 1850.

An earthworks fortress without stone walls, it stood and operated in some form, often as the home of the regional lord, Nago ''[[aji]]'', from roughly 1100 CE to around 1850.
The grounds of the castle were named a public park in 1963, and remain today a 71.1 hectare [[Okinawa prefecture|prefectural]] public park. The park is particularly known for its [[sakura|cherry blossoms]].
