En-hime was the daughter of [[Honda Suketoshi]] (lord of [[Iiyama han]]) and wife to [[Sakai Tadashige]] (lord of [[Himeji han]]). She lived in the eastern palace within [[Himeji castle]] beginning in [[1862]].
Following her death in [[1867]], she was buried at [[Keifuku-ji]], along with a number of the other women of the [[Sakai clan]].
