Inoue Taisuke was the nephew of the 6th unit commander [[Inoue Genzaburo|Inoue Genzaburô]], and the son of [[Inoue Matsugoro|Inoue Matsugorô]], Genzaburô's elder brother. He was present at the [[Battle of Toba-Fushimi]] where his uncle Genzaburô was killed.
