During the [[Battle of Shizugatake]] between [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]] and the [[Sakuma clan|Sakuma]] forces under the command of [[Shibata Katsuie]] in [[1583]], seven of Hideyoshi's finest officers were recognized as the 'seven spears' of the battle. These were [[Fukushima Masanori]], [[Hirano Nagayasu]], [[Kasuya Takenori]], [[Katagiri Katsumoto]], [[Kato Kiyomasa]], [[Kato Yoshiaki]], and [[Wakizaka Yasuharu]].
