The Kodai-ji temple located in Higashiyama ward, Kyoto city was founded by [[Kodai-In|Kôdai-In]].
It is Rinzai school of Buddhism.
This temple is known as the garve site of [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]] and his wife ''Nene''(Kôdai-In).

The ''Chashitsu'' ''Kasa-tei'' and ''Shigure-tei'' were moved from [[Fushimi castle]].

In [[1867]], the temple was used as the [[Goryo Eji|Goryô Eji]] headquater.
