Mount Potalaka is a mythical place imagined as the Pure Land of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara (known in Japanese as Kannon).

While Potalaka was long believed to be an island somewhere to the south of India, by the Ming dynasty East Asian Buddhism associated the mythical Potalaka with Putuoshan, an island just off the coast of Ningbo.
