Tsukushi Mamoru was a [[Fukuoka han]] retainer active in the ''[[sonno|sonnô]] [[joi|jôi]]'' movement in the 1860s.
He was involved in a number of loyalist activities, including plotting to see the [[Fall of Seven Nobles Incident|former exiled nobles]] [[Sanjo Sanetomi|Sanjô Sanetomi]] and four others returned to [[Kyoto]] after they had temporarily taken up residence in [[Dazaifu]].
Following the [[Icchu Incident|Icchû Incident]] of [[1865]], he was sentenced to house arrest, but escaped and drowned to death while fleeing.
