Hirokado was the son of Tsukushi Korekado. He was first defeated by Ôtomo general Takahashi Jôun in 1567 and was later compelled to surrender to Ryûzôji Takanobu in May 1572. He joined Toyotomi Hideyoshi when the latter invaded Kyushu in 1587, and as a result had the Tsukushi’s Chikuzen domain restored to him. He served in the Korean Campaigns under Kobayakawa Takakage. He sided with the Western forces during the Sekigahara Campaign and fought at Ôtsu castle. Although he was deprived of his domain afterwards, he was allowed to become a retainer of Katô Kiyomasa.
