- Established: 1608
- Japanese: 芳春院 (Houshun-in)
Hôshun-in is a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji founded in 1608 by Matsu, the wife of Maeda Toshiie, to serve as a family temple for the Maeda. She then came to be known as Hôshun-in herself.
Many members of the Maeda clan are buried at Hôshun-in. A landscape garden behind the main hall of Hôshun-in contains a two-story structure called the Donkokaku which is said to evoke the gardens of Ginkaku-ji and Kinkaku-ji. The garden was designed by Kobori Enshû in 1617, at the request of Maeda Toshinaga.
The temple burned down at some point in the Edo period, and the current structure dates to 1868-1869.
