Ijichi Sueyasu was a Shimazu clan retainer who served the Shimazu as Kagoshima han kiroku bugyô (Magistrate of Domainal Records for Satsuma han). Along with his son Ijichi Suemichi, he is credited with compiling the Sappan kyûki zatsuroku, an extensive and valuable collection of Satsuma domain records. Sueyasu was also the author of Nanbei kikô, a three-volume treatment of Satsuma history from 607 to 1832.
