  • Other Names: 大和琴 (yamato koto)
  • Japanese: 和琴 (wagon)

The wagon or yamato-koto (lit. "Japanese koto") is a zither typically used in kagura performances. It is perhaps the only indigenous Japanese string instrument, and in comparison to the standard koto (which is related to the Chinese qin), has a number of distinctive features, including forked bridges made from maple twigs, and projecting teeth to which the strings are tied.
