Nobunari served the Ashina clan. At first of relatively humble rank, Nobunari and his men repeatedly distinguished themselves fighting against Date Terumune on behalf of Ashina Moriuji at Hibarayama, and Nobunari was consequently awarded a fief in Yama District. However, his son, Anazawa Nobutaka (Shin'emon), was overthrown and killed in a rebellion in 1584.
