  • Scientific name: Zosterops japonicus
  • Japanese: メジロ (mejiro)

The Japanese white-eye, or mejiro, is a species of small green bird, with white rings around the eyes, commonly seen throughout much of Japan.

In addition to sucking flower nectar, the white-eye also eats small insects and arachnids. They can be found as far south as the Yaeyama Islands, where they are fond of the flowers of deigo trees.[1]
