Ichijô-in Den was the 13th son of Emperor Reigen. He took the tonsure and became a tonsured prince (hôshinnô) in 1709. He became head (bettô) of Kôfuku-ji in 1719, and was also the 37th head (monshu) of the Ichijô-in.
