Takamatsuzuka kofun is a mound tomb in Nara prefecture, excavated in 1972, and famous for its wall paintings. The paintings, depicting a group of ladies in court costume & hairstyles, are regarded as among the most sophisticated Kofun period paintings discovered, and among those in the best condition. The close resemblance of both painting style and the style of garments & hairstyle depicted to similar images in Korea and China is evidence of the close cultural ties between Japan and the continent in that period.
