Yoshufushi

Yôshû fushi is a record of events in Yamashiro province (i.e. in and around Kyoto), written by Kurokawa Dôyû (d. 1691) and published in 1686.

The work takes its title from Yôshû, an alternate name for Yamashiro and a reference to the area around Chang'an in China, alluding to a parallel between the Chinese and Japanese classical capitals.

The work is cited in the Yakusha rongo ("Actors' Analects") as a source of information on kabuki, but modern-day scholars identify the information on kabuki in the Yôshû fushi as unreliable.
